English 3 Class Reflection

In a majority of my English classes the teacher taught the class by making us write papers, or by making the class read. I personally preferred learning by reading instead of by writing papers. In my English III class the teacher taught the class by videos, reading, teaching, and writing papers. I enjoyed when my English III teacher taught the class, and when she let us read, even though most of the class thought the books she gave us to read were uninteresting. In my high school English III class there was a low point in the class, I found a weakness of mine, and I found a difficulty that I am slowly overcoming. There was only one low point of my English III class, and that was when the teacher made the class draw. I did not enjoy drawing in that teacher’s class for two reasons, the first reason was because I did not like drawing, and the second reason was because drawing has nothing to do with English. After the class finished …show more content…
Before I would take a zero for a test grade instead of trying to talk in front of a group of people. In my previous English III class I was able to start talking in front of a group of people, so that I would get a failing grade. I still have not completely overcame this fear yet, but every time I am called on to present a project in front of a group of people I am able to talk without being as nervous as I would have been. In my last English III class I learned of my weakness of not being able to understand the message that the poem I read is trying to convey, the problem that I am slowly being able to overcome with each project that requires me to speak in front of a group of people, and that there were low points in my previous English class. I plan on learning how to speak better in front of a group of people and how to be able to write better

My confidence in my ability to develop and express a clear message to the reader has grown exponentially since English 101. When I start my English 091 class, I had no idea of how to start a assay or how I could add some facts from any journal or other kind of information. Before this class I could say that I consider myself a terrible writer, I did not had a perfect grammar and neither a smooth writing. In many cases my writing did not make sense. Many times I just used to write whatever I had on my mind, sometimes I didn’t even plan before my final draft, I did not was organized . I have seen many improving things on my writing.…

The experience gained through this field experience was very positive and gratifying. The first couple of sessions were like the ground periods, I had to get familiar with Hidden Oaks Elementary School and their ESOL program as well as to meet the team of teachers and their students. I will hope to capture in this reflection the knowledge obtained, the positive aspects, and outcomes of this valuable practice. From the very beginning I felt very comfortable with both teachers and the students’.…

The many skills that I have acquired include in-depth research, more through drafts, fluidity of my paper, and better outlines. These skills will help me writing in the future because I need good in-depth research, fluidity, and more through drafts to have a good starting point and will give me a better idea on what I need to add. The most effective thing we did in class was peer reviewing others essays because I got to see different writing styles and different ideas on how to incorporate my evidence better or different choice of words. Even though I have developed good skills for the future, I still have struggles in my writing. This class has helped me to recognize what I struggle with in writing so in the future I can recognize it and improve on my weaknesses.…

Throughout this semester, I have genuinely learned a lot. AP College English is definitely a difficult course for me, but I have strived to make efforts in changing that. It’s difficult to pinpoint all the things that I have learned during the course. I have learned many things about novels, authors, grammar, writing, reading, and the list goes on. Sitting at my desk in english class, 15 minutes before the end of the period, feeling a small sense of deep inner satisfaction from my work in the previous double period of Draw/Paint level 4, I held a piece of paper in my hands pertaining the information and guidelines of a common app essay. Somewhat confused, I stared blankly at the paper. The bolded words of the length requirement and the due date stuck out against the pure white like a needle through the skin of my finger. I felt a deep sense of dread as I was trying to brainstorm an immediate idea as to what I could write about. I thought of the lessons I learned from my father on right and wrong.…

Writing is different for everyone. We all have interesting stories to tell. If there is one thing that is true for every writer, it is that we all have an inner critic. Allegra Goodman advises writers how to get past their inner critic in her article, “Calming the Inner Critic and Getting to Work”. Silencing my inner judgments can be one of the most challenging parts of writing, but once the critic is silenced something magical and therapeutic emerges.…

High School English class was just filled with reading assignment, quizzes, and essays. During English 1101 I learned more than just how to write an essay and about the plot of a story. I learned about how culture, communication, writing style, and the way we look at visual information has changed. I have learned how to interpret this changing world of media and culture through uses of multimodal methods during this course. Along the way I developed my knowledge and ability to communicate in written methods, oral methods, visual methods, electronic methods, and in non-verbal methods.…

From the Mesopotamian civilization to the present day civilization, writing has taken a place of importance in our daily lives; something I have always struggled with. Through school the most difficult subject that I have always struggled with is English. Growing up my first language was Spanish due to the fact that my parents do know much English. My parents were never able to read to me in English preventing me from hearing and seeing the English language; it was not until I entered elementary school that I was exposed to English. This has contributed to my difficulties in English courses throughout my education.…
