I wish to be in English IIA because I want to face and overcome the challenge of an accelerated course. I believe that this class will push me harder to learn and prepare me for college. If I was put into English II I would probably lose interest and become unfocused, but with a fast moving class I would gain motivation to learn. I enjoy working and reading independently, so this class would be perfect for me. However, I do not oppose the idea of working with classmates and I will gladly cooperate. In brief, I think that English IIA is the optimal course for my learning.

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Education is a crucial aspect of society, and has an impressive change in the generations that are to come. When I was in my senior year of high school, my english teacher taught me how to express myself through my own descriptive writing. Throughout these years of being a student, I never had a mentor reach out to me in that way with writing. After graduating, I took a year off from school so I could figure out what I wanted to major in. In that time, I realized how influential teachers and professors can be in those years for pupils.…

Ever since I was a child in elementary school, I have wanted to be fluent in another language. At first, this began with an attempt to learn Japanese to follow the footsteps of my older sister, who also was studying the language. This venture, however, was fairly short lived, and followed by another weak attempt at learning a language, this time with Portuguese. It wasn't until middle school that I had the chance at formal language instruction, where I chose to take the Latin language track. Finally, I was much more successful, and further developed my love of learning languages.…
