English 111 Reflection

English 111-06 has helped me improve in many areas this semester of college. During English with Dr. Kennedy I’ve learned to focus on my participation, performance, progress, and process in my classes. My overall performance in English this semester, I feel was very good, and I am satisfied with how I did in the class. This class has also helped me improve on my writing conventions, how to conduct proper research, and my overall skill development. Participation was one of the main areas I had to put a lot focus on. Class attendance, active engagement in the class, and class preparation are the three areas that make up participation. My class attendance is where I showest the most weakness. I always tried to be in class when I was suppose to, but this semester I had so many emergencies come up that I had to miss multiple days. During the semester I feel as if I did well on class engagement because I communicated with everybody in the class. When we had group projects I always kept in touch with my fellow group members, even outside of class. However, my weakest area throughout the semester was class preparation because I always had something incomplete or felt like there was so much to do that I just could not keep up with all the work. …show more content…
Two areas that I feel I improved the most on this year are conducting research, and writing conventions. English 111 helped push me in the right direction for conducting research by showing me how to use the school library website. This not only helped me in my college English class but also my research paper for my highschool English class and speeches in my Public Speaking Class. My biggest improvement during the semester was proper comma placements. By learning proper comma placements my sentences were not confusing and helped me to avoid run-on sentences so the reader does not lose
