English 111 Class Reflection

Over the first several weeks of school I have had the rewarding experience of being involved with the fast-track English 111 class provided by my high school and local community college. I have gained experience in managing deadlines, juggling prompts, meeting various criteria, and learning what it truly is that makes writing both correct and brilliant. Coming into this class, I truly lacked a general understanding of proper writing. I wasn’t able to write in MLA format, let alone understand how to execute a process-analysis method, or correct sentence structure. In these past few weeks alone I feel that I have developed as a writer and overall student, know having at least a grasp, if not broader knowledge, on how to produce quality, college-equivalent writing that has exceeded me past an amateur level. My own writing before I began delving into these weeks lessons was often inconsistent and flawed with …show more content…
This class has helped me finally start to overcome my English-orientated obstacles and progress as a student. With an abidance of resources around me, I can say with all honestly that my research in various topics, terms, and methods could have been much more thorough. Though The Longman Writer was an essential tool for each assignment that I almost religiously looked through for essay examples and draft strategies, I certainly could have unitized other texts and sites provided by my school and peers. However; I will say that I did manage to find just as viable information from periodic searches on the internet in between drafting paragraphs— so maybe all hope wasn’t lost when it comes to my researching skills. Finally, I have definitely taken a lot out of this class as a beginning and student writer.
