Coming into English 1301 freshman year was something that I was very terrified of. Since I have not attended school in over nineteen years, and high school English class was never my strong point and I found myself continuously irritated and disorganized. I would rush to write essays just to get it over with, using other people’s thoughts and ideas and transforming them into my own about the subject. I under no circumstances connected with any piece that I was asked to write, so enrolling into college to do it all over again was certainly something I dreaded and to some degree wanted to get over with, but now I find myself appreciating writing. I have written freely or on my own time, however, now I find myself able to sit down and be passionate about writing an essay. I take pleasure in the coming up with my own …show more content…
During the course of my many semesters left here at Alvin College I really want to focus on writing more, and advancing with each semester one at a time. I have a lot of minute things that I need to work out in my writing before I get to the level I eventually would like to be at when I graduate. I still would like to improve my punctuation, as well as, some other characteristics of my writing; however, I feel I have made incredible strides since the beginning of the year. My main goal with writing in college is to look back on freshman year and put side by side the papers to how I am writing senior year and to be able to see how far I have come, and how much I have developed as a writer. I want to leave Alvin College going into the world as a confident writer, one that has accomplished the goals on my to-do list. This has been a very significant semester for me as I have attained a lot more assurance in my writing. I feel strongly that I will continue to improve over the years and I truly look forward to making this

There has been no sleeping in class or slacking off this year, I’m lucky enough to take a college course a year early and at a better price, and I’m not going to waste it. I’ve learned a lot this semester, including but not limited to: identifying how exactly the author’s purpose and audience determines effective writing, developing pieces of writing though a process of planning, revising, and drafting, compose an organized essay with clear points and main ideas, used appropriate tone and formality, critiqued writing, and finally how to grasp the MLA format. My writing has improved through the concepts I have learned this semester.…

English 1101 is a course aimed to prepare students for their future writing courses and have the necessary skills for writing college level work. Coming into this course I was hopeful that it would improve my general writing skills since throughout my secondary schooling it was acceptable but not exceptional. My current faults are hindering the comprehensiveness of my writings because readers have to sift through the damage to understand the argument and focus of the topic. While I am able to come up with content my inability to logically put it into a written form is something I intended to improve. After this course I hope to have revamped my former weaknesses so I can be a more clear and cohesive writer for the future…

Semester Test As the only sophomore in a class of many juniors and seniors, I felt as if my past writing approach was premature compared to my classmates. To succeed I thought I needed to stick to the rules when writing introduction paragraphs, body paragraphs, and conclusions, which made writing papers not very fun. While participating in this class, though, I realized that my style of writing was not to stick to the basics; my style of writing was my personality!…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing.
