My revision of “Face it, America!” that follows this cover letter reflects what I have learned in English 1021 so far. In this class, I have learned to use more transitions and appropriate transitions in my writing. What new ideas I have been learning in English 111 so far is how to the use rhetorical devices more in writing my papers, and notices them as well when reading. I always know what ethos, logos, and pathos were be I never try to identify them in my papers of in articles, textual artifacts or in media. So I enjoy learning about that so far. I think the challenges I am facing in this class is how to more into depth when explaining a quote, passage, and paragraph when I find the rhetorical devices in this in why the author say what they use and use certain words as they do, I think that can help is to may identify what kind of questions I should ask myself more when I’m trying to analysis my paragraphs. I've posted your earned mid-term grades in English 111 on Banner and will be glad to discuss your situation with you individually sometime next week, if you'd like. These are information grades. As usual, knowledge is power: What the grade tells you gives you a chance to be pro-active in ways that might ensure your success in the course. A proper response to a mid-term grade is neither resignation nor smugness. Without my forcing the issue, the overall average at mid-term in my two sections of English 111 happens to be exactly 2.0 or "C," a reasonable outcome for a first-semester college course, one that includes several failures by students who simply quit coming to class and submitting the assigned writing projects.…

English 1101 is a course aimed to prepare students for their future writing courses and have the necessary skills for writing college level work. Coming into this course I was hopeful that it would improve my general writing skills since throughout my secondary schooling it was acceptable but not exceptional. My current faults are hindering the comprehensiveness of my writings because readers have to sift through the damage to understand the argument and focus of the topic. While I am able to come up with content my inability to logically put it into a written form is something I intended to improve. After this course I hope to have revamped my former weaknesses so I can be a more clear and cohesive writer for the future…

Taking English 101 is a jump start for me, because last year of high school my teacher focused primarily on English literature. The course has introduced me to rhetorical analysis, and swatching (imitating author argument). Throughout the semester and all of the papers written I can say that it was a good experience to write at a college level and the expectation from college professors is good for future courses that involve writing essays.…

English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…

Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. My personal experience and take away from English 111 was what I expected it would be before I started the course. No, there was no “life changing” moment for me from this course and I honestly I can’t say I am a better or worse citizen for taking this class, but I can say my writing skills have improved, and that I feel more confident in my writing than prior to taking this course. Writing has and continues to be a challenge for me, I have no illusion that I will ever be a “perfect” or even a “good” writer for that matter, but because some of things I learned in how to prepare and to write an essay I feel I’m a much improved writer. Specifically the topics covered from the first module of this course help my development.…
