English 1023 Course

At the beginning of this semester, I did not expect that the course English 0210 will be useful as most of my older friends, who took it, said that it is very boring and a waste of time. Therefore, I was disappointed and put in mind that it is a very traditional course like many useless courses; and I thought if it happened and made a change, it would generally improve my grammar and English skills but not to a great extent. After approximately two weeks and starting to engage more in the class, tasks and assignments, I found my mind getting better and more comfortable with thinking in a critical and creative way. After few discussions, I started to formulate some strong viewpoints about many political and social issues which also tremendously helped to confidently express my ideas and beliefs about the themes in the seminar 1023 course. More one thing that this course brought to my ability is knowing how to gather information and note the important details while I am listening. Not only did this skill enhanced my interaction with the information that is being listened to, but it also aided me to form my personality and understand all the different thinking ways by the exposure to a myriad of culturally diverse people. One of these listening tasks that changed my mind is the TED talk " East vs. west-the myth that mystify" by Devdutt Pattanaik. He made me really realize how our beliefs affect every aspect in our life whatever it is in terms of business or social life; he also made me understand the different cultures and not to oppose any act that I am not familiar with as long as it does not hurt me.
