English 102 requires each student participating to gain a well-rounded understanding of each topic researched and both sides to the argument in order to have a full grasp of the learning process. Reading and writing is an essential factor to every course, in order to understand the subject better, as well as help innovate in most endeavors. All skills acquired through this course help construct better work to communicate ones opinions and with the audience, fellow peers or instructors. I have applied critical thinking throughout this course, as well as reading and writing on a daily and weekly basis. This ability to communicate through writing thoroughly will come into play in all courses after this one, as well as real life situations. …show more content…
Writing is a great way to communicate information, but to properly structure and back your work, one must dedicate much time to research and effort towards writing properly. The process of writing learned within this course helps organize the ideas and present them in a logical manner backed by sources, all in order to communicate ones opinion to others. The writing process seems like a lot to take in, but once the step by step process is broken down into segments, the work becomes less stressful and you begin to work on more than one assignment at a time. The process begins with brainstorming for a subject matter and evaluating what you already know, then designating what needs to be researched for further understanding. The research is begun by creating questions you have in order to answer them. This process also helps ensure that what knowledge was known in the first place is true. After completing my research, I am faced with creating my standpoint on the topic; this helped me make a stronger paper by weighing what I have learned. After creating all the main points for my standpoint, I organize my points and back them with evidence. The discussion assignment "Developing Research Questions" helped structure Project #1 by developing questions in order to focus on the main topic. These were the questions I had
