“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin. When I first seen this quote, I thought about my experience in Mrs. Beals class room environment. Having Mrs. Beals as my professor for the past two quarters has been a blast. Before I came into her class for English 101 I did not enjoy English class at all. It was just a class that I had to take for my degree. After English 126 my whole mindset about English has changed because of how Beals approached teaching overall. Matter of fact I am now looking forward to majoring in English. In this Paper I will touch bases on my experience in our English 126 class by speaking on 5 different learning out comes in order to display my growth throughout this quarter.

This is the end of the quarter and I'm not going to be taking a class with Beals next quarter, so I decided to look at my first ever essay in English 101. I know that this paper is supposed to be about this specific quarter but Beals has been my teacher since the beginning of fall. Give credit where credit is due and a lot of the credit for my growth as a student is due to Beals. I am now a better

These were very interesting and had everyone that read the stories engaged. A lot of the time many of the students had different opinions stories which led to a very interesting debate. Later on, we'd have a short paper prompt, or a Blog do about the same thing we talked about in class. This really helps with academic arguments because we all have our own opinion and it makes us more interested to write about our ideas. This is one of the main reasons why writing has been very fun for me. I personally love expressing my thoughts especially when you give me the chance to back it up with textual evidence I love making connections and proving my point which is why academic arguments has been one of the primary Learning outcomes of this

My revision of “Face it, America!” that follows this cover letter reflects what I have learned in English 1021 so far. While revising this essay, I learned when to use present tense in my writing and past tense in my writing when appropriate. In this class, I have learned to use more transitions and appropriate transitions in my writing. My revision reflects this because in my second paragraph where I mention the significance of police officers, I use transition words for every new sentence that needs it.…

The purpose was to just let all of your creativity flow without stopping for hesitation or judgement. The first day that we had to write was the hardest. I felt uncomfortable writing because I was embarrassed that it might not be perfect, or it might not come out how I wanted it to. But, that was the magic of the ten minute writing, it wasn't always perfect but every idea went straight from your head to your fingertips and you rapidly wrote out everything and sometimes at the end of it, you had something pretty good. There was something special about the silence of everyone in the room.…

I've posted your earned mid-term grades in English 111 on Banner and will be glad to discuss your situation with you individually sometime next week, if you'd like. These are information grades. As usual, knowledge is power: What the grade tells you gives you a chance to be pro-active in ways that might ensure your success in the course. A proper response to a mid-term grade is neither resignation nor smugness. Without my forcing the issue, the overall average at mid-term in my two sections of English 111 happens to be exactly 2.0 or "C," a reasonable outcome for a first-semester college course, one that includes several failures by students who simply quit coming to class and submitting the assigned writing projects.…

When I start my English 091 class, I had no idea of how to start a assay or how I could add some facts from any journal or other kind of information. Before this class I could say that I consider myself a terrible writer, I did not had a perfect grammar and neither a smooth writing. In many cases my writing did not make sense. This course has improved myself as a writer and has a critical thinker; with the essays that were written I was challenged to ask more questions and see the bigger picture on things and view a subject from all sides. I never wrote an argumentative essay before this course, so this course taught me what it was how to write one and what exactly I was looking for and what I would be able to improve on. I know there is still room for improvement, but taking this course has already made me a better writer from when I started. Writing argumentative essays would help improve many skills as an individual by learning how to approach important issues without taking a side and learning this would also help if a person was trying to prove a point…

As I finish my second English course at San Jose State University, I reevaluate all of my accomplishments in my improvement in English since high school. At the beginning of my first-year English course at this school, I have realized my weaknesses in writing such as the improper usage of grammar and the lack of concise and coherent language in my papers. After completing the Stretch English program last year, it has made a huge impact on my writing and readings skills. The results of that program allowed me as a writer's to actively read and be aware of the rhetorical features in the text, organize my quotations that enabled me to effectively integrate them into an essay, and use the information I have critiqued upon readings to support my ideas. As I complete my second English course, I was able to…

Since my sophomore year in high school, I 've been able to be in a kindergarten classroom under the guidance of the same teacher, Mrs. Cookie Bodie. Through this experience I 've been able to watch her attitude be positive towards herself, those around her, and the subject matter she was teaching. She portrayed the characteristics of a Level 3 teacher, and I am very thankful for the time I was able to learn from her. The most outstanding thing I learned from her was classroom management: to never back down while under fire, and always remember what your goal is for the class. The difference she has made in my life through teaching is one I will never forget.…

Until this semester, I had not realized the importance of making arguments and supporting them properly. It honestly did not come as a shock to me, as I knew my past English teachers did not really care about teaching us proper writing skills. In high school, I was never made aware of my inability to properly organize a paper and make claims that I can fully support. The essentials of argument was something I had never heard of. Critical thinking, creating arguments and making claims were all new experiences for me, and after learning them, I believe my development as a writer, as well as a student, has grown to a more college level.…
