Prior to completing ENGL 2200, I had many misconceptions. I believed creativity to simply turn a new and innovative idea into reality and in order to be creative as well as imaginative you must act on the ideas you develop. I learned that creativity is so much more in addition to being the foundation for developing newer technology, literature, artwork, and so much more in life. I also believed imagination to be a personal thing and what stimulates thoughts for myself may not be the same thing that stimulates thoughts for others. I am the type of person who when faced with a problem that needs a solution, I generate ideas with fluency and flexibility. My thoughts are provoked when I am tasked with something I do not particularly already know how to do. I also realized in the early onset of this course that being nervous is a creative thinking stimulator as when I am scared my mind goes to the extremity of situations. …show more content…
I learned that there is more to creativity and imagination then just conjuring up an idea inside of your head, there are ways to contribute to an idea to expand it or manipulate an idea to shape a better idea. I also learned there are many factors that contribute to creativity such as words and sentences, images, metaphors, etc. I also learned there is a distinction between creativity and imagination as imagination is concerned with something that is not present while creativity is doing something significant with your imagination. This course taught me so much about creativity, I cannot express it all in 300

It represents how many people will need to come to break even. When 241 people show up, the budget will break even. Gradually, as 241 breaks even, $2410 will be our current revenue. As time progresses, our current flow of revenue will make a significant increase.…

Until very recently, I have had little to no knowledge or contact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture and heritage. My knowledge came from sections of high school history classes. Before entering ABST100, I had a broad understanding on the history of colonization, Indigenous Australians themselves, and on Indigenous Identity. However, over the duration of both Week 1’s tutorial and lecture, I quickly noticed that the course content for Introducing Indigenous Australia was very different from my other subjects, where it allowed me to gain an exceptional amount of knowledge and broaden my views on Indigenous Australia and Indigenous Australians.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Creativity, an essential skill that can simultaneously help advance the world and communicate different perceptions of an idea, has gradually declined since 1990. Original ideas are vital when it comes to problem solving, technological advancements, communication, and much more. If the public worldwide stops creating new ideas, the world will experience a plateau rather than growth in development. In order to boost creativity in the population, it is best to start at the foundation of all skills, school. Supported by a scientific study and personal experience, creative thinking should be taught in school, because without explicit practice of thinking creatively, the mind begins to lose that skill.…

After reviewing week 1 essays, one of my strengths was in the length of my essay having five paragraphs with 5 to 6 supporting sentences within each. Another strength was vocabulary enhancement. My transitional phrases were one of my strengths in this essay. The final strength that I noticed was the concluding paragraph. I was truly shocked that I did this well, this was my very first essay that I’ve ever written in an academic setting.…

Even within Math and Science, creativity is required in order to grow and move forward. New ideas have to be created for the world to evolve, but with the stifling of creativity, and the creation of a school system where making mistakes can cost students grades, college admissions, and ultimately their future, putting new ideas out into the open can be intimidating. This renders the education system counterproductive and creates leaders and innovators who succeed despite the structure of their education system instead of because of it. Creativity is a defining trait of civilization and should not be…

I have never personally thought of myself as a creative person but maybe it isn’t entirely my fault or any other student who feels the same way. As future educators it is our job to teach children material, but shouldn’t we be educating the whole child rather than just their head. If we get children moving, creating, and thinking with more than just their head we could end up finding that we have students who are brilliant, but not in the normal academic way public education looks for. We could discover musicians and dancers and artist if we gave those students an option, instead we rely heavily on how academically prepared our students will be for standardized tests or getting into college; we fail to help them discover their real potential by eliminating their creative…
