During high school, even though I was very involved and had acquired time management skills, I found I was not prepared to the extent necessary for college. In high school I was able to study the night before the test and receive a good grade, but I knew I would need to develop better habits in college. At the beginning of the school year, I was not using the minimal amount of free time I have between my morning classes and afternoon classes wisely. I soon made an adjustment and now spend the time in the library working or homework or other tasks I need to complete. During high school I was also able to go to bed late and wake up early and not feel the effects on my energy levels. I developed the habit of staying up too late when I arrived at Wartburg, and I continue to struggle to get enough sleep. I have also made adjustments in my daily schedule in order to workout. When I first arrived on campus, I used the workout facilities almost every day. The frequency of my visits to The W slowly dwindled, and I noticed a change in my mood. I soon learned how important it is to take care of my body, and I am learning to prioritize the tasks that I value the most as opposed to participating in all things presented to …show more content…
One activity in specific was a saxophone recital that supported my classmates, which I would not have known about if that was not included. Although the engagement scorecard has influenced me to be involved, I already knew I wanted to be very involved in college, wherever I attended, and I hope to help make improvements over my four years here. College is a time for new experiences, establishing connections, skill development, and personal growth. Even in the short amount of time I have been here it is evident that Wartburg offers those opportunities to all students. Even though I experienced struggles in the beginning, as I walk across the Wartburg College campus filled with smiles and welcoming faces I am reassured I am meant to be a
