Energy Use and Environment Issues in Modern History The Industrial Revolution is the name given to the movement in which machines changed people’s way of life, as well as their methods of manufacture. During this time people shifted away from animal, human, water, and solar sources to resources based on fossil fuels. There are many huge benefits from these sources of energy, but also many serious threats to the environment and the sustainability to human civilization. Population dynamics plays a big role in how our world has changed and continues to change. From 1750-1950, the population of the world stayed about the same and never had much of an incline. In the past 50 years, the world has experienced an extraordinary increase in population growth. A world’s population is determined by the natural increase. The natural increase is when the birth rate is higher than the death rate. Due to the increase in people, there is an increase in the use of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels burns power to our vehicles and industries, heats and cools our buildings, and runs appliances. It also produces electricity for things such as lights and computers. Climate change plays a big role in how our world has environmental problems. The Earth’s climate has changed throughout history. It is said that the climate change over the past century is likely due to the human activity. For centuries, atmospheric carbon dioxide had never been above 300 parts per million.
