This source of energy doesn’t have a specific name to it, so you would most likely know it as wind energy. Wind farming is the use of machines, called turbines, to generate energy from the power of the wind. A turbine is very similar to a windmill. It has huge propellers that are pushed by the force of the wind. This kind of power is called kinetic energy, the power of movement. The propellers connect up with a rotor that turns something inside it called a gearbox. This finally, is used to turn an electricity generator. Electricity generators work the opposite way a motor would. Instead of dispersing energy throughout a machine, this collects energy from a machine. As the gearbox turns the generator, inside of it is a magnetic rotor that spins loops of copper wire. This causes electrons inside the copper to flow; resulting in the creation of electrical …show more content…
Geothermic energy is the use of the heat from earth’s magma core to produce a source of renewable energy. We do this through the use of a geothermal power plant. A geothermal power plant works by drilling and connecting to a hot water reservoir found underground through the use of pipes. Once the water is heated by the earth 's magma the water rises in the form of steam. The pressure of the steam is used to rotate a turbine that is connected to an electricity generator. This process of a hot water reservoir producing steam from the earth 's magma is called hydrothermal circulation. The generator in a geothermal plant is the same type of generator used in a wind turbine. A geothermal turbine is very similar to a wind turbine. Although instead of being turned by the wind, it is turned by pressure. A geothermic power plant could be seen as a man-made volcano, only this one does not erupt or explode, it heats up water through the means of the earth 's
