Nutrition’s Impact on Energy Levels
How much does nutrition affect the brain? How much do food habits influence energy levels? Can eating certain foods or changing habits increase productivity? These are questions many people ask, and answers have been given from many sources. Some compare the body to a vehicle; claiming that what nutrients are put in is how well it functions. But what to put in? All of these questions can be answered. Energy levels and productivity can be increased by eating a balanced diet, by eating small but frequent portions, and by practicing healthful habits. To start, energy levels can be increased by eating a balanced diet. By getting all of the necessary nutrients-proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water-energy levels increase greatly. An article written at health.harvard.edu says, “The tried-and-true advice for healthful eating also applies to keeping your energy level high: eat a balanced diet that includes a variety of unrefined carbohydrates, proteins, and

Experts recommend about 30 minutes of exercise a day, and approximately 8 hours of sleep. Both activities help increase energy levels by providing the brain with plenty of blood, and sleep is especially important for helping the body recuperate and recover. Additionally, daily habits help influence energy levels. One website, healthguidance.org, explains it this way: “Most people have daily schedules that drain the energy out of their bodies that they find hard to change since they develop into permanent habits. You should adapt habits that help boost your energy levels instead of draining them.” One good way to do this is to change the environment. Having clean surroundings, getting some sunshine, and listening to relaxing music can all help boost energy
