Energy drinks are packed full of sugars and caffeine to give you that ¨energy¨ feeling. People drink energy drinks all the time not thinking of what they are putting into their bodys. One energy drink is usually more than the suggested amount of sugar for a day and many people drink more than one in short periods of time. This becomes an issue because Americans are becoming obese.According to Guardian ¨ nearly 30% of kids under the age of twenty are obese¨ (para 9), this is a problem in the United states. We need to start cutting back on the amounts of sugar we intake in a day because it's in more than what we even realize of our everyday diets.

There are also many reports of people dying from energy drinks, According to CSPI ¨a total of 34 deaths have now been linked to energy drinks. Of those, 22 deaths have been linked to 5-Hour Energy, 11 deaths have been linked to Monster, and one death, a first, has been linked to Rockstar¨ (para. 1). But not all deaths that could have been reported are by hard fact caused by energy drinks, so its possible these numbers are more. Over all energy drinks need to be taking off of the shelf. According to CSPI ¨ One 8.4-ounce of non-diet Red Bull contains 110 calories from almost 7 teaspoons of added sugars, a 16-ounce can of Monster has 200 calories from 13.5 teaspoons of added sugars, and a 24-ounce can of Rockstar has 420 calories from 23 teaspoons of added sugars. To put those numbers into context, the American Heart Association recommends that men consume no more than nine teaspoons of added sugars per day and that women consume no more than six teaspoons.
