Overview: Energy drinks today are consumed the most by youth and young adults which is terrible. College students are the main target because as you may know, we lack energy. We have to stay up late and wake up early to complete assignments and attend class. As helpful as you may think energy drinks are, they impose a great threat to our health. I am going to talk about the health issues, why they are still legal even though they shouldn't be and the alternatives of energy drinks.

There is an incredible amount of caffeine and sugar in these drinks. A 24oz energy drink contains 500mg of caffeine which is similar to 4-5 cups of coffee (Objective). B. The main reason these drinks are still legal is because they are not regulated by the food and drug administration. They are considered dietary supplements in order to stepside the U.S. FDA rules on caffeine.
