This can have serious adverse effects on a person health. According to A. Peacock (2014) people who do this report a “wide awake drunkenness”, caused by the sedative and depressant effects of the alcohol being countered by the energy drinks effecting increased alertness and focus (p.1613). The study also showed that mixing energy drinks and alcohol changed mood in the person. People participating said that they felt more “on edge” and were less likely to be carefree and calm. The conclusion in the experiment turned out to be inconclusive because they would only administer a set amount of alcohol and energy drinks in the test.
