Energy drinks have many different side effects, not very many people know how they can lead to diabetes. Every time that someone drinks an energy drink, their insulin levels can increase. Medscape says that “This could make them more prone to a condition which increases their susceptibility to type 2 diabetes later in life.”(Medscape Log In) The decrease in insulin causes diabetes “Because many energy drinks are also very high in sugar, they can eventually wear out the insulin producing cells of the pancreas, which leads to type 2 diabetes” which is said in the article Top 14 Energy Drink Dangers.
