To me the word means- to prejudge, criticized for no reason...like in the past if you were not white, with blond hair, and blue eyes your life didn’t matter in Hitler’s eyes. Or when Martin Luther King was around (Not so long ago) if you were African American you had to go to different schools, restaurants, bathrooms, Seats in the movie theatre, buses. All because you weren't white, that’s racism. Criticizing someone for their color, their religion, or race, or beliefs or prejudging someone for what they wear or what they like. Not for some stupid reason like wearing black and white on the same day or being white and your name is Mr. Black. (it's true i've heard people say “hey that racist”.) Now coming to the now times. As an American we have the rights to believe what we want and to do as we please longs it not a crime and to Isaac from my book, Enemy in the Fort, everyone considered Isaac as a killer, stealer, thief, savage and other mean things because he was Indian. They all prejudged him and to come to find out he was a lifesaver (in a way). He wasn’t no mean person and he didn’t want to cause no harm. Though him being even white just like all of them he considered Indians as him family. It really doesn’t matter how you look, what color you are, where you come from it should matter on how you act, what’s your personality, what are your goals. …show more content…

In 1754 the Northern Frontier of New England was difficult, dangerous place for a colonial girl like Rebecca Percy from the book. Settlers faced many dangers, but what they feared most was being killed or captured by the Indians. In the century before the American Revolution more than 1600 colonist were taken captive.(like Rebecca”s parent’s). Many colonist viewed Indians as savages as Rebecca and Selinda did. Though what the settlers didn’t want to accept was that the Native Americans had first claims on the land. The frontier was home to thousands of Indians living in strong establishes societies. Such as the Mohawks and the Senecas in New York and the Abenaki in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. As English settlers pushed NorthWest they destroyed the forest and fencing land the Indian Natives depended on. So the Indians stayed or moved more north or west. The French in nearby Canada wanted to keep their long time enemies, the english, from settling more land. So they urged Indians to attack the English and rewarded them for English scalps and captives. Settlers who lived outside the forts like the Percy’s and Johnsons were especially easy targets for an Indian attack. In the summer of 1754, when Rebecca’s story takes place, marked the start of a hostile time as the French and Indian
