The term endocrine disruptor was created at the wingspread conference center in Wisconsin in 1991. Several articles had a key impact on such a creation. One paper in 1993 by Theo Colborn. Through this paper she stated that the “environmental chemicals distribute the development of the endocrine system, and the effects of the exposure during the development are often permanent”. How ever high levels of endocrine distriputers are able to effect and impare the human body and health through interfering with the human reproductive system. Examples include decline in number of males born, abnormal male reproduction organs, female productive disease, early puberty and reduction in male fertility. Specific endocrine distrputors have affected the wild life reproduction. While only a few endocrine disptrodurs disappear quickly from the natural environment others are more persistent and these have been the most studied.
