“Ender kills Stilson and Bonzo without realizing that he has done it… but in physical struggles he lashes out with a fear-driven response that is beyond his control, a cyclone so violent that he does not even see the results and only suspects them” (Kelly 2-3). Ender struggled with the idea that he was becoming like his brother Peter, and he despised that about himself. Ender had Peter’s ruthlessness and cruelty as well as Valentine’s sympathy which conflicted him because he wanted to do the right thing but sometimes it was hard for Ender. Kelly saw that when Ender was faced in a situation and had to fight he killed or injured his enemies and did not even realize it, nor have control over it. Ender felt alone and was isolated from the other children but continued to strive to do what he believed was right and although his intentions were in the right place, the outcome was not always what he wanted it to be. He tried to solve his problems without using violence and desired to cause no harm. In Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card it teaches readers about the idea that one is not purely good or purely evil, it is their intentions that determine what kind of person they are and it is shown through characterization and research. Ender’s Game although not all realistic, shows that it is better to have good intentions even if sometimes the outcome is somewhat evil, than to be selfish and evil to achieve the outcome one
