In both versions of the story, Ender constantly has a battle with himself, he tends to regret certain situations as they happen. His regretfullness always gravitates toward bad situations. Starting in grade school, Ender is constantly bullied, harassed and abused. Ender gets in an altercation with a boy at his school, Stillson, he beats Stillson to the ground and continually kicks him down on the ground, ensuring he will leave him alone. Similarly while he is at battle school, another kid, Bonzo, tries to fight him and in requisition Ender fights back and kills Bonzo. In a bigger argument, Ender is the commander to fight the third invasion of buggers. Ender kills over a million buggers and wipes out the entire bugger race. After all of these altercations, Ender thinks about all of the trouble he caused and he takes it personally. This causes ender to have a regretfullness after he does do something wrong. One similarity between the book and the movie, is the fight between him and peter at the start of the story. As they fight in their house, the text describes the violence, “Suddenly there was the pain and pressure of a blow to the side of the head; he lost balance, fell that way” (Card 11).This quote explains the struggle of Ender as he battles for power with Peter. In the movie, this is shown as peter throwing Ender and choking him until he can barely can breathe. In a similar fight, Ender and Bonzo fight in the bathroom at battle school. In the book, Ender defends himself by turning the shower on and this tactic allows him to knock Bonzo out and eventually kill him, “It was the heat, it made his skin more slippery than Bonzo would expect. /.../ Bonzo collapsed, fell to the side, and sprawled directly under the spray of steaming water.” (Card 210-12). The text is describing Ender’s tactics to murder bonzo, he ensures that Bonzo or any of the older boys will not mess with him again, just like Stillson. In the movie, Ender was approached by Bonzo and his friends, and in response Ender turned on the shower and prevented Bonzo from hitting him. A bigger issue was the third invasion of the buggers on earth. In the text, the third invasion was described as, “Then the enemy formation appeared, and Ender’s weariness turned to despair.” (Card 292). This quote

Ender’s Game Adaptation Movie Review Gavin Hood’s Adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game is an adventurous thrill ride. Ender Wiggin played by Asa Butterfield, is a third that was not really appreciated for being the third child in his family, a third that ended up being a successful recruit for the Battle School, where Ender is being pushed to his breaking point with all of the lies they are feeding him. It seems this movie took a lot of time and effort to create, with all of the scenes and technology upgrades. This movie is a good adaptation to the book because it brings all of the action moments in the book to the screen.…

How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. It leads to a search for different soldiers all trying for one ultimate goal: beating the returning champions, the “Buggers.” When looking at both the film and the novel, in my opinion, the book was superior.…

They deliberately singled him out, and made him the target for bullying and physical abuse by praising him on the launch. They encouraged the fight between him and Bonzo by putting Ender in control of Dragon Army. When Ender committed genocide, they lied to him by making him think it was a training exercise, then shortly after openly admitting that they used him, that he was nothing but a weapon. Ender was used again and again, it seems like the only choice he could make was what he would eat for…

Ender went through what he thought were several simulations controlling a fleet, but was instead lied to by his mentor, Mazer Rackham, and had been controlling a real fleet at the same time. As a result of this, Ender obliterated the Buggers, unintentionally killing a whole species, which had no longer wanted to war with humanity ages ago but could not communicate this. This is only found out when Ender discovers an unborn pupa of a Bugger queen on the newly inhabited planet, discussing through the communication the Buggers had used, and told Ender, “We did not mean to murder, and when we understood, we never came again.” (109). While Ender knew he was training to lead humanity, he did not want to fight to the death for victory, he sought for peace and understanding.…

That’s only to examples of how pride becomes before the fall and I’m sure there’s more examples in the movie but that’s what stands out to me the most in this movie. Ender leads the attack against the Buggers’ home world; in the process of doing so, he commands pilots and soldiers to give their lives in a kamikaze style. The attack leads to the decimation of the entire race: genocide. Ender, himself brings up a good point: “In battle I killed ten billion buggers, whose queens, at least, were as alive and wise as any man, who had not even launched a third attack against us, and no one thinks to call it a crime” (Ender’s Game, 309). The civilization that Ender is responsible for destroying did nothing to prompt an attack of that scale. Ender’s supporters may claim that because he feels guilt, he is innocent.…

Buggers in Ender’s Game plays a major part of the novel’s plot. The characters, setting and plot revolve around the ploy to develop children to become soldiers to kill the buggers when they attack. The paranoia is what makes the story revolve around a child named Ender Wiggin, who was allowed to survive because he was the perfect combination of his siblings, Peter and Valentine. Ender’s balanced personality is what will make him the perfect commander to kill off the buggers. What if the buggers never enter earth and killed off three thousand people?…

Ender’s mother was shocked that an officer was proud of the decision Ender made that got him invited to the battle school because Graff was basically promoting violence to Ender, saying it is ok to use which made the novel disturbing. Also, the violence while in battle school made the children being in the characters more disturbing because of the actions they took. Ender and Bonzo were fighting in the bathroom because Bonzo wanted to kill him, “Ender whirled in time to see Bonzo stagger backward, his nose bleeding, gasping from surprise and pain”(211). The quote shows how Ender was defending himself from Bonzo, who wanted to kill him. The character should not have been a child and shown that violence was the problem solver.…

This really long quote basically describes the entire ending of the book. After Ender wiped out the entire bugger race he was very upset at what he just did because he was feeling guilty that he had no authority to kill the peaceful buggers, this also ties in with Enders emotional changes through the novel. But anyways since he felt guilty he went searching in a cave where it was told that the queen bugger lived as he entered the cave he saw one last bugger which survived the attack and Ender being the person who can communicate to the buggers spoke to it and Ender promised that bugger that he would take the little white cocoon and colonize the bugger race on a far away world without anyone knowing. But at the same time Peter was terrorizing the world back on earth and the most important person in the world to Ender was his sister Valentine so…
