In both versions of the story, Ender constantly has a battle with himself, he tends to regret certain situations as they happen. His regretfullness always gravitates toward bad situations. Starting in grade school, Ender is constantly bullied, harassed and abused. Ender gets in an altercation with a boy at his school, Stillson, he beats Stillson to the ground and continually kicks him down on the ground, ensuring he will leave him alone. Similarly while he is at battle school, another kid, Bonzo, tries to fight him and in requisition Ender fights back and kills Bonzo. One similarity between the book and the movie, is the fight between him and peter at the start of the story. As they fight in their house, the text describes the violence, “Suddenly there was the pain and pressure of a blow to the side of the head; he lost balance, fell that way” (Card 11).This quote explains the struggle of Ender as he battles for power with Peter. In the movie, this is shown as peter throwing Ender and choking him until he can barely can breathe. In a similar fight, Ender and Bonzo fight in the bathroom at battle school. In the book, Ender defends himself by turning the shower on and this tactic allows him to knock Bonzo out and eventually kill him, “It was the heat, it made his skin more slippery than Bonzo would expect. /.../ Bonzo collapsed, fell to the side, and sprawled directly under the spray of steaming water.” (Card 210-12). The text is describing Ender’s tactics to murder bonzo, he ensures that Bonzo or any of the older boys will not mess with him again, just like Stillson. In the movie, Ender was approached by Bonzo and his friends, and in response Ender turned on the shower and prevented Bonzo from hitting him. A bigger issue was the third invasion of the buggers on earth. In the text, the third invasion was described as, “Then the enemy formation appeared, and Ender’s weariness turned to despair.” (Card 292). This quote
