Enders Game Character Analysis

Enders Game, a novel writer by Orson Scott Card, is a look into the experience of a great young mind in a time of peril. Andrew “Ender” Wiggins is chosen as a candidate to become a warrior trained to lead an Army in a time of need. He is chosen at the age of 6, but he is believed to have what it takes to grow and breed into becoming a significantly great leader in his society. This novel takes place in a futuristic world where the civilization and human race is in danger. At the beginning of the novel the human race has scarcely survived two alien attacks and they are afraid of a future incredibly more powerful attack in their near future. With this fear in mind, the human race institutes a program to generate a true leader to guide their Army to victory. While evaluating this novel I found it to exemplify many notions of abundant young minds, Enders in particular, thinking outside of their common or ordinary framework and go beyond the means of ordinary in order to accomplish the greater good. Enders leadership growth throughout the novel was one of triumph and evolution. Not many people wanted to follow him or even hear what he had to say because they viewed him as powerless, and not capable of instructing soldiers. Only a few people saw what was truly inside him such as Colonel Graff and Mazer Rackham. Colonel Graff as a recruiter saw the possibilities and potential in Ender which made it easy for him to choose him. Mazer had experienced the torment of war and knew what it took to lead and the heart that came with it. Both of these men saw through what others didn’t. They predicted and eventually witnessed Enders great potential and obtained the benefits once their presumption came
