How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. Andrew “Ender” Wiggins was chosen at the six years old to go to Battle School, a school where children were taught small units tactics and leadership to learn to one day become leaders in the military. Over the course of the four years that Ender was at Battle School, he was molded by his instructors and peers to be the best leader that Earth had ever known. Ender appears to have a situational leadership style. The Center for Association Leadership describes situational leading as “Links behavior with group’s readiness” and “Includes being directing and supportive, while empowering and coaching”. Situational leaders are able to change their plans based on the situation at hand.…

Ender Wiggin: The Innocent Weapon In Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, Ender is a very controversial character. Many people believe that he is a killer with a violent spirit, and that he meant to commit genocide, while I disagree. I believe that Ender has an innocent spirit, a friendly conscience, and was repeatedly used as a weapon. He was provoked when fighting Stilson and Bonzo, was constantly controlled by the adults, and did not have the intent of genocide on the buggers.…

Ender went through what he thought were several simulations controlling a fleet, but was instead lied to by his mentor, Mazer Rackham, and had been controlling a real fleet at the same time. As a result of this, Ender obliterated the Buggers, unintentionally killing a whole species, which had no longer wanted to war with humanity ages ago but could not communicate this. This is only found out when Ender discovers an unborn pupa of a Bugger queen on the newly inhabited planet, discussing through the communication the Buggers had used, and told Ender, “We did not mean to murder, and when we understood, we never came again.” (109). While Ender knew he was training to lead humanity, he did not want to fight to the death for victory, he sought for peace and understanding.…

Ender leads the attack against the Buggers’ home world; in the process of doing so, he commands pilots and soldiers to give their lives in a kamikaze style. The attack leads to the decimation of the entire race: genocide. Ender, himself brings up a good point: “In battle I killed ten billion buggers, whose queens, at least, were as alive and wise as any man, who had not even launched a third attack against us, and no one thinks to call it a crime” (Ender’s Game, 309). The civilization that Ender is responsible for destroying did nothing to prompt an attack of that scale. Ender’s supporters may claim that because he feels guilt, he is innocent.…

This really long quote basically describes the entire ending of the book. After Ender wiped out the entire bugger race he was very upset at what he just did because he was feeling guilty that he had no authority to kill the peaceful buggers, this also ties in with Enders emotional changes through the novel. But anyways since he felt guilty he went searching in a cave where it was told that the queen bugger lived as he entered the cave he saw one last bugger which survived the attack and Ender being the person who can communicate to the buggers spoke to it and Ender promised that bugger that he would take the little white cocoon and colonize the bugger race on a far away world without anyone knowing. But at the same time Peter was terrorizing the world back on earth and the most important person in the world to Ender was his sister Valentine so…
