Ender Wiggin: Comparing The Movie And The Book

You are six years old and are forced to fight your countries enemy and were taken away from your family and could possibly not see them for years; Ender Wiggin was six and was taken away from his family to fight the buggers in space and both the movie and book shows his struggles along the way. The book is better compared to the movie because it allows the reader to better understand Enders thoughts and feelings while he is on his journey and allows the reader to paint a mental picture of certain characters. Like any other book, Enders Game had several themes throughout the story and without, we would not see the characters evolve throughout the story and grow. One of the many themes in Enders Game is strength; when he entered the camp, Ender was isolated from everyone and was forced to overcome obstacles thrown at him in order to see if he can and how he will handle them; another theme is competition. Enders Game is a book nothing but competition between Ender and the other kids, competing to be the best at defeating the buggers. Unlike the book, Ender and all the characters look extremely older than described in the book. According to the book, when Ender first entered the school, he was 6 but in the movie, he looked at least in middle school. This is an important factor because the readers painted a picture of Ender while reading. Another difference is that in the movie, Enders parents were not shown or discussed and throughout the book, they were spoken about. This is also important because his relationship with his parents gives the reader an insight about how Ender feels about being a third and how that affects his relationship with his them.
