Compare And Contrast Ender's Game Movie Vs Book

Great Essays
No book or movie is ever alike. This is shown in the book “Enders Game” by Orson Scott Card and the Enders Game movie by Gaven Hood, where the book and movie had many similarities but as well had many differences. In the novel Ender is portrayed as a very different kid after he gets to battle school; however this is not shown in the movie. Another difference would be how Lock and Demosthenes were not mentioned at all in the movie, yet had a huge role in the book, and the final would be the endings for both the movie and book as well as Enders reaction to what’s going on in the end. These three reasons show how the movie is very different from the book. When comparing Ender in both the novel and movie he was shown as a very different character …show more content…
Who are Lock and Demosthenes? They are basically two secret identities Peter and Valentine made up for Peters plan to take over the world. “So I’ve got a sick sense of humour. I’m sorry. You know I was teasing. I need your help... You’re just what the world needs. A twelve-year-old to solve all our problems” (Card 166). This quote shows the discussion Valentine and Peter are having about planning to take over the world. Peter thinks this is the perfect time to attempt to do so because the world is at a vulnerable state since they are all focused on the buggers, and the fear of them invading earth again. This was an extremely important part of the book Lock and Demosthenes it even had an entire chapter devoted to it. One reason why it is really important is because it changes the outcome in the end of the book opposed to the movie. In the movie the story of Lock and Demosthenes and how they are trying to take over the world was just dropped, like the entire idea of it wasn’t even mentioned in the movie at all. This was another point that showed how the novel and the movie …show more content…
The first example is what happens after Ender defeats the buggers. “So they boarded a starship and went from world to world. Wherever they stopped, he was always Andrew Wiggen, itinerant speaker for the dead, and she was always valentine, historian errant, writing down stories of the living while Ender spoke the stories of the dead. And always Ender carried with him the dry white cocoon, looking for the world where the hive-queen could awaken and thrive in peace. He looked a long time” (Card 368). This really long quote basically describes the entire ending of the book. After Ender wiped out the entire bugger race he was very upset at what he just did because he was feeling guilty that he had no authority to kill the peaceful buggers, this also ties in with Enders emotional changes through the novel. But anyways since he felt guilty he went searching in a cave where it was told that the queen bugger lived as he entered the cave he saw one last bugger which survived the attack and Ender being the person who can communicate to the buggers spoke to it and Ender promised that bugger that he would take the little white cocoon and colonize the bugger race on a far away world without anyone knowing. But at the same time Peter was terrorizing the world back on earth and the most important person in the world to Ender was his sister Valentine so

The Westing Game is an excellent novel as well as movie, however, they tell a somewhat different story. Sandy, Barney, Julian, and Sam are all different people right? This proves to be true in both the movie and the book. In The Outsiders the movie and the book there are many differences and many similarities. 3 diffrences are Two-bit Mathews knife, chapter 12 and Greaser and Socs neighbourhoods. 3 similarities are the character's personalities, main incidents, many of the same conversations. In the book it talks about how Two-bit’s switchblade was his prize possession, but in the movie, they don’t really follow through with that.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…

Ender’s Game Adaptation Movie Review Gavin Hood’s Adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game is an adventurous thrill ride. Ender Wiggin played by Asa Butterfield, is a third that was not really appreciated for being the third child in his family, a third that ended up being a successful recruit for the Battle School, where Ender is being pushed to his breaking point with all of the lies they are feeding him. It seems this movie took a lot of time and effort to create, with all of the scenes and technology upgrades. This movie is a good adaptation to the book because it brings all of the action moments in the book to the screen.…

Time and time again people come to the common question of, “Movies vs. books?” Many movies follow their books word for word whether its character development or plot development, whereas other movies change and twist the book’s stories in unimaginable ways, yet people are still faced with the question, “Movies or books?” An example of how books and movies can differ is in the story “The Outsiders” written by S. E. Hinton and produced by Francis Coppola. Although there are many similarities that both the book, The Outsiders, and the movie share, there were many noticeable differences in the appearance and personalities of all the characters. Three of the main characters, Pony, Johnny and Soda, will be reviewed in particular.…

Ender Wiggin There is nothing saying the exact appearance of Ender, but because of his age, 6 years old, I can infer that he’s very short, and has the face and body of a child. Valentine also notices that he is “sun-browned and strong” (Card 234) after he has returned to Earth. Ender’s choice of words show his personality by making himself a serious person and not one that people would go to for sympathy. “Sometimes we make mistakes,” Petra whispered to him once. It was a plea for help.…

Ender was an isolated, third born young man who was raised knowing he had to defeat the buggers. He was forced by his family and the government who told him he was born for one reason and one reason only, to defeat the buggers. At a young age, Ender was recruited into Battle School to learn how to fight the buggers and he did so well that he became the best commander and moved up to Command school to control the simulator. When he was fighting in the “simulated games”, he was actually fighting real buggers and was in real battles, but he didn’t find this out until every bugger was killed. The book was better than the movie because the book had more details and action while the movie left many details…

Leaders possess many great qualities such as good communication, natural intuition, and confidence. Ender Wiggin combines those qualities throughout both the movie and the book. Once attacked on, Mazer Rackham conquers and destroys the buggers, but that wasn't the last attack from these aliens. After reading and watching the story of Ender Wiggin, it occurred to me that the book and the movie has its similarities and differences. Even though I personally thought the book was better (which it was), they both have their ups and downs. Here are the comparisons between these two tales of Ender’s Game. The filmmakers of Ender’s Game: The Movie made unnecessary additions to the original story more than needed, such as tranquilizing Ender after he killed the buggers, having Petra be at Ender’s side when he goes off to find the bugger egg, or when there’s an actual adult bugger queen when Ender finds the egg.…

“Lame…” is what I thought to myself once I finished watching the movie “The Maze Runner.” In my opinion, I thought that The Maze Runner book was way better than the movie. When I read the book, I believe I was a sophomore in Ms. Brown’s class and I shockingly liked the book. The reason why I say shockingly is because I never read books and when I do, I rarely like them. After we read the book we watched the movie, and I thought that it was a real disappointment.…
