One of the most important, practical ways to help is by raising awareness. Every year, some time in February, millions of abolitionists around the word join together and mark their hands to shine a light on modern day slavery. How can we fight an evil we don't know exists? There are thousands of good people out there who would be great warriors in this fight, but they don't even know it exists. Sticking our heads in the sand won't change anything. Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing.” I know a lot of people who think that a Christian's purpose in life is to hide in their closets and pray for the world, without ever going out and putting action with faith. The Bible is very clear that we should speak up for those who have no voice, comfort the hurting, heal the sick, defend the defenseless, and rescue the lost. There are very few groups of people out there with less of a voice than those caught in human trafficking. They are nameless, faceless individuals, who live and die in the shadows. We have to be their
