EMT Research Paper EMTs are such an essential part of society nowadays. In my opinion, this is one of the most important jobs out there. For just a moment, imagine that you are driving down the road on a rainy night and lose control of your car. You go flying off the road and into a tree on the side of the road. Everything goes fuzzy and all you can see are flashes of reality. You fade in and out, hearing sirens and seeing lights, but you have no control of your body. The next thing you know, you wake up inside of a small room, freaking out because you have no idea what has just happened. The Paramedic level requires the most in-depth training. You must acquire a certificate or associate’s degree in Paramedics, which can take up to two years. A Paramedic may take courses that vary from emergency service management to psychology. In all levels, after the training, you must pass the NREMT certification exam. This certification must be renewed every two years. (EMT Requirements). While it may seem like an easy job for most, I believe that being an EMT is a job that only a select few can accomplish. An EMT needs to be in good physical condition and have good senses. When I interviewed Mrs. Sheri C., I learned that this job requires a special type of person. With a somewhat low average salary range of $27,000 to $30,000 a year, a stressful and dangerous environment, and an “iffy” schedule, most people just wouldn’t have the drive to be an EMT. Mrs. C. made it very clear that an EMT must be very caring and compassionate toward other people. Even though it may not put them in the best situation financially or emotionally, and EMT’s main concern should be the safety and health of others. These attributes are what makes and EMT such a special person and is what gives them the drive to help others (Interview). Through all of the research I have done on EMTs, I have learned so many new things and gained so much respect for these wonderful people. It would be
