1. What is the Employment Standards Act (ESA)? The Employment Standards Act lays the rights and rsponsibilities to be followed by both employers and employees in Ontario Workplace.
a) To whom does it apply? The ESA applies to the employees and employers of Onatrio, barring certain exceptions.
b) What is the purpose of it? The purpose is to create a safe work environment where everone’srights are respected and valued.
2. What basic ten rights are protected by the ESA?
1. Getting a regular pay per day with keeping the minimum wage in mind.
2. Must get paid for over time. The overtime rate must be at least 1½ times the regular rate of pay.
3. Entintlement to take a paid leave on the 9 public holidays.

Parental leave is not part of pregnancy leave and the mother can take both these leaves.

12. What benefits are pregnant women entitled to?
Pregnant women are entited to continue to participate in pension plans, life insurance plans, accidental death plans, extended health plans and dental plans during their leave.
A pregnant woman also has the right to the same job she has before the leave and the the Right to Earn Credits for Length of Employment, Length of Service and Seniority
