Minimum wage in Ontario has passed legislation and increasing its wage from $11.60 to $14 per hour on January 1st 2018. Then the following year, minimum wage will go up to $15 per hour. As for students under the age of 18, liquor servers, hunting and fishing guides, and homeworkers will it remain under special wages. This will become effective in the new year. It will be mandatory for employers to pay their part-time, seasonal employees the same rate as their full time/permanent employees. Casual, part-time, temporary and seasonal workers I have the right to ask their employer to review their rate of pay if they do not believe I do not believe they are not getting paid the same amount of money as their co-workers who are permanent employees. Employment agency employees employees will also be allowed to ask their employer to review their rate of pay. However, some employees will be exempt from the new equal pay for equal work legislation for part-time, temporary, casual and seasonal employees if the wage is based on; (a) seniority/merit system, (b) systems that measure earnings by quantity or quality of production, or (c) other factors (sex and employment status will not qualify as a exception). Employment agencies will be exempt from the new equal pay for equal work for assignment employees if the difference in the rate is based on something other than sex or employment
