How does an employer determine appropriate accommodations for employees religious practice; with what is reasonable and what is not reasonable? What or who determines what is reasonable?

An employer makes appropriate accommodations based on the employee’s religion. As indicated under the provisions of Title VII, covered employers determine what is reasonable, and should be able to make reasonable accommodations by making compromises or improvising, with such things as a flexible work schedule; job reassignment, employees can trade work assignments, lateral transfers or modifying the workplace practices as long as it does not cause the employer any financial difficulty, these effects should benefit the employee’s religious beliefs (Bell, 2012).
