Question 1: Do I value one way of knowing more than another?
Reflecting on the different approaches and patterns of knowing, the use of empirical knowledge is valued most in my nursing practice. Hood (2014), reports, “ Empirical knowing constitutes the science of nursing. It encompasses verifiable, factual descriptions, explanations, and predictions based on subjective or objective data” (Hood, 2014, p.116). It is my belief that, my application of empirical knowledge is vigorous when providing quality care accompanied by following the facilities policies and procedures. In this week’s module, I acknowledged that empirical knowing has a major impact on having a safe yet positive nurse-client relationship.
