“Empire’s are not built in a day but this one was created in one season. Writer and Producer Lee Daniels has once again out done himself with his creativity and adaption of his new hit series Empire which first aired on FOX news last spring. Daniels directed and produced many other hit movies such as Precious and The Butler which won several awards for its outstanding production and outstanding performance by the cast. Empire, a new television series created by Daniels, and his co-writer Danny Strong, spotlights on a hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment, and the drama surrounding the members of the originator’s family as they fight for ownership of the company. It did so well with ratings that FOX even extended their contract and the show was renewed for two more seasons and was even given more episodes per season. Which came as a great relief for fans across the country. Although empire may be entertaining to some to other viewers it seems as just another cliché drama series about wealth and power. A lot of viewers find the show over dramatized and may even compare it to a Tyler Perry production, but it is far from it. I admit the musical numbers and guest performances by big name superstars are sometimes a bit much and does not have any significance tied into the episodes. This still doesn’t take away from the great storyline that was written and even adds more amusement for the audience who are tuned in every Wednesday night waiting to see what celebrity will make a guest appearance next.
