Empathy To My Peers: A Self Analysis

Looking back at my presentation I feel that I showed empathy to my peers. When we started our presentation the audience had to answer two questions based on the assigned reading. However, out of a group of three, two of the participants were absent the previous week so they did not do the reading. Since they were apologizing to the only person in the group who now had to do all the work I decided to step up and help. I briefly joined their group to reassure them that it was okay that they did not read the article and I helped fill them in on the article so they could participate. Not only did I step in where I felt extra support was needed but since I know everyone learns differently we made a presentation that was geared for multiple learners. Since everyone is trying to learn I think next time it would be better if expectations were made clear. By clearly communicating what is expected and the layout of the presentation then the audience could have been more prepared. Besides having clearer communications about what to expect I think directions for certain activities were not made clear. This left the audience feeling uncertain and ask others what needed to be done. Next time I think our group needs to have a clear understanding ourselves before we can expect someone else to understand the directions. One way to solve this problem is by putting up the activity directions on the board so they are clearly stated and could easily be referred back to. Lastly, I felt like we had a hard time communicating when we wanted to come back from the small group activities. I think by having a group leader to take charge would have been consistent and less confusing. I also think it would have been beneficial to have a signal to allow the audience to know that it was time to stop talking so we could move
