In Sherry Turkle’s chapters “Empathy Diaries” and “The Flight from Conversation,” Turkle argues that Social Media is stopping our generation from having conversations with one another, losing one of the main things that makes humans, human. The idea of conversation being lost with technology that was created initially to make it easier to have conversation with those far distance away but it has become an excuse for not talking to those around you . Social Media is the new frontier for business marketing while allowing Social Media users to create their own brand. Businesses are beginning to use Social Media and famous figures to advertise their products instead of using Television. The installments of the Social Media app is free like snapchat and Instagram but only because businesses have already paid to advertise themselves along with the rest of the feed. Followers trust the opinions and suggestions of businesses that are on Social Media because the followers want to take part and feel involved with what they are watching. Famous Social Media users are treated as stars that could be seen grocery shopping having merchandise for the channels.
