Empathy Character Analysis

The first characteristic of wisdom that I found was empathy. Empathy is a great thing to have. It allows you to view certain events with different perspectives. It can be helpful socially and also politically. Someone who is biased based on inherited opinions and what is seen as right by other people is not wise. A politician who is completely biased about things is not going to improve the area that they take care of. While it is not very wise to be too biases, one bias is good to have. That is to be biased towards the Bible. Some politicians have drifted away from what our country was founded on. This nation was founded with God being at the center and some people completely disregard that today. Having empathy will allow more to get done overall. Also, if you know someone who has recently gone through a recent death of a family member, empathy is very …show more content…
Someone who is independent in self reliant and doesn't expect others to do for him. An independent person is well respected and looked up upon. It shows that they are not lazy and are usually leaders in one way or another. It is very wise to be independant. A third characteristic is to be calm. It is very wise to calm in heated situation. This can be very hard at times but it is good to do. Being calm shows self control and a stable mindset. If someone can give their ideas in a calm manner, the ideas would be considered more that if said in a harsh tone. Overall, being calm helps people respect you and your ideas and is seen to me as wise. My fourth characteristic is to be honest. If you aren't honest, it will eventually come back to you. Many small lies add up to a big lie. If people know you aren't honest, they will have a lot less respect for you. Dishonesty will add up to a big loss of trust from others and they won't know if you are speaking the truth or not. being honest is very important if you want people to respect you and your

It sounds better to say creative, but the reality is that I’m late to most events, my hair and clothes are usually disheveled, and no day planner has ever lasted me longer than four days. This memo will define which attributes I intend to improve as well as the process in which they will be improved. The three personal attributes requiring the most attention are 1) thoughtful and careful rather than impulsive and impetuous, 2) calm and composed rather than anxious and nervous, and 3) patient rather than impatient.…

DB 1 “Innocent Amusements” Hartman’s analysis of the “precariousness of empathy” performs as preparation for her examination of how whites have often hijacked the black experience for pleasure, both as an instrument of empathy and with nefarious intentions. This subjection of the black experience for white pleasure is evidenced by minstrel shows that reinforce black subjugation (29), observations made by whites of black “merriment” as somehow describing the slave perspective (34), and the characterizations of the slave as a commodity that wants to be bought (38). After reading this, I began to think about parallels to today. Is the black experience still only legitimized and occupied when recognized by the white dominion? If so, this historical…

Hartman’s utilization of the white abolitionist John Rankin’s admonishment of slavery through imagining himself and his family as enslaved demonstrates how it actually “inadvertently confirms the expectations and desires definitive of the relations of chattel slavery” (Hartman 19). Hartman recognizes Rankin’s intentions as well-meaning, but argues, “the effort the counteract the commonplace callousness to black suffering requires that the white body be positioned in the place of the black body…” (Hartman 19). This analysis of the “precariousness of empathy” acts as preparation for Hartman’s examination of how whites have often hijacked the black experience for pleasure, both as an instrument of empathy and with nefarious intentions. Another characteristic I demonstrate is leadership. One example of this is setting good examples such as not talking when the teacher is talking, participating in class activities, and doing my work. Whenever an argument is about to break out, I always try to stop it before it occurs. I’ve also done service before too (sort of). I collected all the…

Since the beginning of the semester, performing my small act of service by turning the lights off in empty rooms to conserve energy has been like a rollercoaster ride. In the beginning, I was on top of things and made sure to remember turning the lights off to make it a habit. I even remember keeping a reminder in my note app in my phone until I didn’t need it anymore. As I was trying to continue performing my small act of service as it got to the middle of the semester, I noticed that I was less motivated and started to completely forget about continuing my task, especially during the school breaks where I didn’t actually have any work to do. As I was reflecting on my unsuccessful task during the middle of the semester, I came to the point…
