There is a plethora of so called writers in this world who believe that if they throw some text down on paper, suddenly they deserve to be published. This is comparable to someone who splatters paint across a canvas and calls it art. Unfortunately, in the modern society of today, the same way that these artists sell their timeless and mindless work for millions, inadequate writers manage to get published. Selina Jamil is amongst such writers. In her essay titled “Emotions in The Story of an Hour”, Jamil attempts to put forth the emotions that took place in “The Story of an Hour”, and give meaning to those emotions. Jamil’s claim that Mrs. Mallard will make herself ill because the society around her rejects her emotions, is rather peculiar.
