These emotions are nothing like those that make a person angry. They make the individual happy, and give them a desire to treat the ones around them with respect, or to comfort someone when they need it, as opposed to giving them the cold shoulder. How do know what makes us angry and what makes us sad. Why some things affect people differently, or not affect them at all. There is a theory that emotion is universal, that all people have the same basic emotions and react similarly to situations (Clark). Some have different interpretations of emotion, and ways of expressing it; love is one of those emotions.
