Emotional Stairage

Decent Essays
A lot of people are carrying emotional baggage around with them. And what I mean by emotional baggage is guilt from things that they've done wrong in the past. Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 NKJV). Jesus wants to give us rest from our burdens. Therefore, we have assurance that if we go to Him He will give us rest; He will set us free from the guilt that binds us to the past, and put us on a path that leads to life everlasting.

God is love. And there's nothing that we can do to stop Him from being what He is. His grace is sufficient, inexhaustible, and all encompassing. His mercy endures forever. If He says you are forgiven then you are exactly what He said you are.

Revered as the culmination of all his work, C.S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces is the recipient of scholars’ praise and the author’s favoritism. Scholars praise Lewis for his ability to transform a narrow classical myth into a universally applicable story. While this universality owes itself to the fictitious nature of the novel, it is also rooted in the theme of love. In order to fully elucidate the concept of love as he understood it, Lewis published The Four Loves. He first distinguishes between two base forms of love: need-love and gift-love.…

The angels symbolize Jesus as the only way to Heaven. As the blood ran from His face, the thunder roared the sky grew dark, and the earth trembled before Jesus died. Why would the earth react and tremble and the atmosphere be moved so violently right before Jesus died? On the grounds of atonement issues of love, it is always seen as a divine gift, never as human achievement (Guthrie 250-251). And yet, divine love is not sentimental or merely emotional, it is a righteous love which blazes out against all that opposes God’s will. I can relate this to my religion which is Catholicism. As a Catholic, I believe that God’s love for us is never ending. He created everything for us out of love. He even sent down his only son, Jesus, to save us from sin and grant us eternal life. Even if I sin and make a mistake, I know that if I’m sorry God will forgive me.…

What is a biblical truth from the passage that ministered to you? Explain. Chuck Smith stated, “ Hey, if your load is so heavy you can’t carry it, I have to assume that you have taken on yourself something that God never put on you.” This was a great reminder to me, because although I know that God’s burden is light, so often I selfishly carry burdens that are not from the Lord. One of the reasons I do this is because I struggle with feeling unworthy, and I justify it in my mind that somehow if I try and carry burdens in my life I can help “pay” back the debt I owed, even though I know I cannot.…

There many ways to tell what God is like, I believe that each of us will have our own opinions of how we portray God. I portray God in many different ways but my favorites are how powerful, forgiving, and unconditionally loving He is. I think about how powerful God is I am awestruck. In the book of Job it talks about how glorious God's voice is and how we cannot put words towards the greatness that his power is (Job 37:5 New International Version.) Throughout our lives we are faced with having to forgive another person who has hurt us.…
