Shonda Faulcon | English 160 | 01/28/2018

As defined by Wikipedia, an interpersonal relationship is a strong, deep, or close association or acquaintance between two or more people that may range in duration from brief to enduring. The association may be based on inference, love, solidarity, regular business interactions, or some other type of social commitment. This guide will explain the five steps to love. In my experience if these five steps are followed, you will have a good romantic relationship; However, for success, the steps should be followed by both people in the relationship.

Undoubtingly the best relationships I have encountered started from a friendship that grew into love. A friendship can be defined as mutual affection and support.
Does your mate have to be your best friend? No, but it helps. I can talk for hours with my best friend and tell him anything big or small, good or bad without the fear of being judged. My best friend encourages me and supports my dreams. He gives me advice when I’m unsure about something. We spend a lot of time together. By, having dinner dates or shopping. We have common interests in traveling and living healthier lifestyles.
Being friends with your mate means you like each other, outside of physical attractions. You should be able to connect with your partner on all levels which good friends usually do. I often hear people say that their relationships ended due to a lack of emotional support. Remember that when you support your mate you are being a good friend; therefore, you are helping to build a good relationship.

Social philosopher Erich Fromm formed a definition of love that is simple, yet comprehensive. He broke love into four connected but distinct elements: respect, care, knowledge, and responsibility (hooks 19). These forms can exist on their own, but when authentic and genuine love is practiced, the four must exist together. We must, at the very least, respect others. Often times, when a relationship is established, we go above that basic respect and care for others.…
