The result indicated that I have a “high score on emotional intelligence.”

What Does Your Score Mean?
“People who score high on emotional intelligence tend to be skilled at interpreting, understanding, and acting upon emotions. They are adept at dealing with social or emotional conflicts, expressing their feelings, and dealing with emotional situations.

The results of my emotional intelligence tests said that I am good at understanding and interpreting others feelings. This contributes to others being able to talk to me knowing that I will

I want to be an effective quiet leader.
In order to be an effective quiet leader I must develop the ability to listen and hear what is being said and giving the speaker a chance to talk and share suggestions, points of view and ideas. In order to do this I need to be aware that others want to contribute to the conversation, and not cut them off or talk over them, but instead allow them to share their ideas and suggestions. (Wallington, 2003)
I read an interesting article about a research study by Adam Grant a professor of the University of North Carolina, where he states, “Extraverted leadership involves commanding the center of attention: being outgoing, assertive, bold, talkative and dominant.” (Grant, Gino, & Hofmann, 2011) The advantages of this is to provide a clear authority structure and direction but, this can lead to friction with employees that take the initiative and speak out. So for me to be an effective leader I must learn to be quiet and not be so aggressive.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions in such a way that promotes positive outcomes in one’s life. Emotional intelligence also refers to a specific set of cognitive abilities associated with emotions. Intelligence is defined by Wechsler as “the aggregate or global capacity to of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his or her environment.” (pg. 2). Based off of Wechsler’s definition of intelligence, I do consider emotional intelligence (EI) to be a true form of intelligence, because accurately managing one’s emotions is vital towards acting purposefully, thinking rationally, and dealing with his/her environment.…

In order to study personality, psychologists devised a plan to qualitatively measure the traits that differentiate humans from one another. The Big Five Factor Model provides a concise measurement of five basic human qualities that most every person possesses. These qualities fluctuate throughout life and the quiz seeks to measure these changes throughout development. While the conclusions made based off this model are generalizations, it provides a clear view of how certain personality traits are affected by environment, age, gender, race, etc.…

Trait theorists focus on the measurement of traits and believe that to better understand personality we should focus on an individual’s traits and characteristic behaviour(Saul Kassin,; 2003). Using the five-factor model of personality, trait theorists can develop different kinds of questionnaires, such as the NEO Personality Inventory, to measure a person’s personality traits (Costa, P.T. Jr. and McCrae, R.R, 1992). With this data, researchers can describe a person’s personality using the 5 global factors of the five-factor model. The five-factor model helps trait theorists identify characteristics that individuals possess and to the extent of which they are present (Matthews, Gerald; Deary, Ian J.; Whiteman, Martha C, 2003). Freuds psychodynamic…

Another noticeable trait of leadership is letting your team lead the way. “LEAD FROM THE BACK — AND LET OTHERS BELIEVE THEY ARE IN FRONT.” (Nelson Mandela 1918-2013). Agreeableness is the next trait which exhibits how we as people cooperate and get along with others. I scored a total of 64 on this trait which puts me in the moderate range. Having a good level of agreeableness helps me keep relationships together but also helps me in solving conflicts without having someone to compromise something they want completely, and always coming to a compromise where it is fair. I am friendly and helpful and I want people to be able to see me as someone that they can come to. The 4th trait is Neuroticism which is a condition that is marked my mental distress and emotional suffering which leads to a difficulty in coping with the normal demands of life.…
