Learning about Daniel Goleman’s five elements of emotional intelligence (Emotional Intelligence Developing Strong “People Skills” 2016) has provided great insight into how emotional intelligence and emotions are formed. Such things like self-Awareness and self-Regulation are pivotal in building a strong emotional intelligence. Learning to control my emotions especially anger is something that I have attempted to work very hard on over the past few years and through studying self-awareness and self-regulation I believe that I am in a much better position now to deal with these negative emotions than ever before. Other alternative perspectives that can be used to address emotional intelligence as stated in the article by mindtools.com are by taking responsibility, examining how you react to stressful situations, and many more. A big part in growing emotionally is by addressing where and how a situation went wrong and how by using these techniques you can grow. An example for me was examining how you react to stressful situations. Before I started my job I was told that I would be dealing in high pressure situations, which I took little notice of. Some improvements that I can make to my overall emotional intelligence could be learning to take responsibility for my actions. This is a huge deal for me as I have had instances in the past where my emotions have gotten the better of me and have not handled situations in a correct manner. By learning to take responsibility of my actions, I will be able to approach situations in a different manner and hopefully in a more stable emotional mindset. The other area in which I could improve would be by separating my emotions from my actions, so thinking more with my brain rather then what my emotions are saying. This will aid me in making more logical decisions which will attempt to have the best outcome long
