Ensler writes fictional monologues on individual attributes that influence women in the society with the emotional precepts being identified. The emotional attributes that are present among women in the society are as a result of societal pressure and expectations. Women are considered to be emotional beings that are taught to be too intense, too passionate, too caring and too open. Women conform to the societal expectations and have to be controlled to ensure that they align with the individual traits that are present in the wider societal models. The women in the society faced massive challenges in getting good jobs and fending for their children. It is the writer’s mother and her friends that inspired her to be better and get a proper model towards change that is developed and created in the society. The daily work that the women went through although being faced by poor pay meant that they had to even work two times a day to meet the needs of their people. Since they were from Barbados, they faced discrimination in a White dominated society and were critiqued by the wider society (Marshall 109). As a young child, the writer drew inspiration from the strength and conviction of the women in the society. While contemplating the challenges that were present in the society, it became critical to oversee a proper model of change that is needed to ensure that the people understood the challenges faced. It is these individual attributes that map a proper tool that is needed to improve the women in a male-dominated society. Depending on individual changes, there are critical measures that are needed in order to facilitate the different change processes needed accordingly. The mother looks to impart the best lessons on good behavior and presentation in the society to ensure that one is respectable in the society and accorded proper respect as a woman. One of the main attributes that the mother looks to develop in her child is the importance of ensuring that she engages in responsible sexual behavior and develops the best tools towards creating a strong process of change that is needed in the society. It aligns with the distinct attributes thereby creating a strong process of change that is mapped and developed in the country accordingly. Although the mother may be considered overbearing and stereotype due to the methods that she uses to teach her child, it still indicates a different structure that is needed in the society. The short story compounds the individual traits that are needed by the girl towards developing good behaviors and aligning with the behavioral models of the society.
