Women were denied the right to vote because people thought women suffrage was not really important and it was breaking tradition. Some ignorant people claimed that ''women lacked the ability to take part in politics.'' Emmeline Pankhurst and daughters Christabel, Sylvia and some other WSPU members were arrested multiple times. When they were locked up they would lead hungry strikes to make people know that they were still fighting. British officials had to force-feed the ladies to keep them alive.
In the olden days, the roles of women were to stay home and take care of the household. Women had no say in what went on, the men were the head of the household. Women also walked in factories. Women are still denied their rights
