As a result, to avoid imposition and value individual characteristics of the guest- Watson, the host- David uses negative politeness strategies, apology like “I’m sorry. Is it the underground or the tube?....Excuse me. Was that something? Did you hear that?” or question hedge such as “Yeah. Did you know that?
