In Saudi Arabia, women were just given the right to drive, but women are still missing out on many other rights, such as education (Gaouette and Labott). In Chita Divakaruni essay titled “Live Free and Starve”, she smartly uses the audience’s emotions about child labor to first bring the issue into the spotlight, while at the same time presenting her strongest arguments against the bill to ban import items made by children in bondage using personal experiences. Her first argument against the bill is based on economic reasoning. Ms. Chita wills her audience to question their high moral ground in light of extreme poverty and dreadful standard of living which is the foundation of child labor in the first place. Secondly, the article also questions the usefulness of such bills, which in her mind are only passed so that liberals can give themselves a thump on the back rather than to addressing the real issue of child labor. The article, the way it uses emotions, is brilliantly placed in Salon magazine which generally has a large female readership and maybe persuasive to that particular audience,…

In many articles about child labor, it talks about how the conditions are horrible for anyone and is unfair for the children that have to withstand them. Still today, many children have to face these conditions and the low pay. Everything about child labor is unfair for the children because they have no choice on whether or not they wanted to do it. Children are the last people that should have to work at all, and even work with all of the horrible conditions that they have been forced to work with.…

Additionally, classical heroes are often fated/chosen by the gods, showing a clear divide between a hero and a normal person. While the definition of hero has not changed, the virtues required to be a hero have. Children all over the world are engaged in a great number of activities classifiable as work. The activities vary from relatively harmless activities like helping parents in their domestic chores, to morally and physically exploiting ones like soldiering and prostitution. If we leave out the former, we are left with what are generally called "economic" activities. Of these economic activities, less than 4 percent of all working children, are estimated to be engaged in what ILO (International Labour Organisation) defines as the "unconditional" worst forms of child labour. The absolute number of children estimated to be engaged in the latter is, however, a stunning 8.4 million.…
