Eminem was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was named Marshall Mathers after his dad. His mother’s name was Deborah Mathers. His father abandoned him, and his mother was a drug addict, who could never hold a job for more than a few months, so they moved constantly from Missouri and Detroit, Michigan. He was constantly bullied and had a rough childhood, failing 9th grade 3 times and dropping out. The only light in his life was his Uncle Ronnie, who would rap with him. Ronnie committed suicide in 1991, which really devastated Eminem. He got a passion in rapping at the age of fourteen. He joined Mike Ruby in rapping. Also, in 1999 Eminem’s mom filed a $10,000,000 lawsuit against him, but only received $25,000, and Marshall married Kim.
In the year 2000, he created Marshall Mathers LP, which sold over two million copies in one week. It sold over 19 million copies worldwide, won a Grammy Award, received a nomination for Album of the Year, and is considered one of the best rap albums of all time. It changed the way people saw rap, since it was based on heartbreak and anger. He also featured in 8 Mile, a movie based loosely around his life. Between 2001 and 2004, he released other albums such as “The Eminem Show”, Encore”. They included hits such as “Mockingbird, “Superman”, and “Without Me”, which boosted his fame sky
