Eminem covers topics that may be tough for others to talk about, but that many people can relate to. This attracts people who are or were at the same point in life as him. He started from rock bottom, and built his career out of nothing. Eminem came from a rough family and really did not make it out untill 2000. Before he was famous, he worked many jobs to support his wife and daughter, who he divorced from later on. He remarried and then divorced the same woman again, then was stuck in a custody battle for his daughter Hailie. He has written songs to and about his daughter and ex-wife apologizing and talking about what happened with them. In the song “Mockingbird” he tells his daughter “Hailie I know you miss your mom and I know you miss your dad, When I'm gone but I'm trying to give you the life that I never had.” He is so open with his life, and what has happened to him and he knows there are other people who relate to what he raps about. He does this for himself, but at the same time, he does it for those he knows will benefit from his music.
