While most people had a great first day of school, a distracted driver hit a teacher from Glen Ames Senior Public School. Emily Hartly was hit on September 8th, 2015, around 5pm in front of Williamson Road Public School, the school beside Glen Ames.
Emily Hartly had been heading home when James Mallen hit her. He had been texting on his phone, speeding, and ignoring the stop sign.
Kathryn Limmel, the witness, has stated that Emily Hartly had been listening to music with earphones and was most likely un-able to hear the car.
On the other hand, Emily Hartly was able to see the car from the corner of her eyes and tried to move away at the last second. Unfortunately, the car still hit her with enough force to push her on the sidewalk. After seeing
