In Dickinson’s poem “A Light exists in Spring,” she expresses this challenge. “The Science cannot overtake/ But Human Nature feels” (Powell); Showing that science and not take the place of humanity. Another poem that shows this challenge is “Split the Lark”. One line reads “Faith is a fine invention / When Gentlemen can see--/ But Microscopes are prudent / in an Emergency (Orsini) Dickinson demonstrates through these words her belief that her spirituality trumps over the findings of science. Dickinson again shows the comparison with science and spirituality in her poem “I heard a Fly buzz – when I died-”. In this poem, she goes through the process of death. She further explains to the reader that there is no afterlife. Finally, she reveals that the body is food for insects.
